Grey County Update: JMG and Property Tax Gratitude
Through you honourable Warden Milne,
Recently interviewed internationally famous Peak Oil author John Michael Greer https://youtube.com/live/YANFxa-JUc8 with the usual crew.
Things seem to have slowed down at the county, but I would like to respond to Councillor Greig's remark about sources of funding, and how the Federal and Provincial government have additional sources of funds on top of property tax.
However I would like to promote gratitude for Property Tax and it's amazing abilities to cause Councillors to be compassionate to the citizens, and help create an environment for them to thrive, and have abundance to share in gratis and in kind in gratitude for their residence and the provision of the Municipal and County governments.
We already have Grey-Bruce Makerspace, which is a wonderful low cost project, that is empowering entrepreneurs across Grey and Bruce County. We already have empowered to even create tools from metal using Computer Numerically Controlled machines, and have several in use already. Warden Milne mentioned he liked video segments produced by the Tourism department. How about making media promoting gratitude in Grey County? And showing how property tax is being used to help the citizens, and how they can take advantage of its services. Already have the staff to do it, and can always get volunteers. The core role of a politician is as a policy maker in a given polity, it is much more than simply approving the budget.
Promoting gratitude for property taxes as a tool for community building and resource sharing is a unique and constructive perspective, that can help people vote in favour the people who gave it to them. Here's how Grey County Councillors can frame and act on this concept to foster a thriving and abundant community:
1. Emphasize Property Taxes as Investments in Community Prosperity
- Messaging Shift: Highlight how property taxes fund essential services (roads, waste management, libraries) and create the foundation for local resilience and abundance.
- Actions:
- Share clear, transparent breakdowns of how property taxes are used, linking them to tangible community benefits (e.g., maintaining parks, supporting local food programs, funding renewable energy initiatives).
- Use public forums, newsletters, and social media to build appreciation for these contributions.
2. Use Property Tax Revenue to Empower Citizen-Led Initiatives
- Policy Initiative: Allocate portions of property tax revenue to participatory budgeting programs, allowing residents to propose and vote on local projects.
- Examples:
- Community gardens or food forests.
- Rural woodlot management programs for sustainable heating.
- Education programs on self-sufficiency (e.g., farming, composting, renewable energy).
- Impact: Residents directly see the benefits of their taxes in ways that support abundance and gratitude. -Cost: Minimal, with recent version of ChatGPT4o1-preview can make abundant high quality documentation with current staff in a timely manner. $30/mth per participating staff member. Just worth noting that the quality of the output is determined on the quality of the input, AI is a mirror.
3. Introduce Tax Incentives for Sharing Resources and Community Contribution
- Policy Initiative: Implement tax relief or credits for landowners who:
- Share their land for community agriculture or food forests.
- Allow public access to trails or conservation areas on private property.
- Provide mentorship or resources to new farmers or entrepreneurs.
- Impact: Encourages generosity and gratitude through tangible recognition of citizen contributions.
4. Foster an Abundance Mindset Through Local Collaboration
- Policy Initiative: Use tax revenues to seed collaborative projects that exemplify sharing and gratitude.
- Examples:
- Establish a community resource hub funded by taxes where tools, seeds, and knowledge are shared. We already have this through the Grey Bruce Makerspace hosted by Grey County at the Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound. There is a Makers Market next Saturday on the 23rd of November 10am to 3pm, all are welcome to attend. I'll probably have a booth there with greenhouse computers and plants.
- Create neighborhood resilience teams supported by municipal grants, teaching sustainable practices like rainwater harvesting or firewood management.
- Impact: Reinforces the idea that taxes fuel not just services, but a network of mutual aid and abundance.
5. Celebrate Successes in Local Governance and Citizen Contributions
- Policy Initiative: Create annual "Community Gratitude Days" to celebrate the mutual partnership between government and residents, showcasing projects funded by taxes and acts of citizen generosity.
- Impact: Builds a sense of pride and shared purpose in the role property taxes play in enhancing life in Grey County.
By aligning property tax policies with these gratitude-focused initiatives, Grey County Councillors can foster a culture of collaboration, abundance, and shared responsibility. This approach would not only deepen citizens’ appreciation for local governance but also strengthen the community's social and economic fabric. Many may choose to celebrate by coming out to vote when the time comes.
As the Confederation of Planets, in service to the One Infinite Creator has said: 2017/05/20: The power of gratitude, praise, and thanksgiving is realized by many seekers of truth as that which is a foundation upon which you stand as seekers of truth. For as you are grateful, and give praise and thanksgiving for all that has been given to you, you continue the flow of those energies that are moving to you and through you in your daily experience. This sense of gratitude, combined with the ability to balance all momentary fluctuations away from perceiving the love about you, are helpful tools—indeed, the rod and the staff upon your journey to the valley of the shadow of death, as it would seem; where, within this illusion, there is much that partakes of what seems to be negative experience, of anti-life behaviors, of ignorance of how to promote the welfare of entities about you, of the planet itself having suffered thousands of years of degradation due to the bellicose actions of many different cultures, and peoples, and times.
"This is a test of one’s will and faith, as you continue to move through your daily round of activities, for there is so much that is misperceived by the great majority of the population of this planet at this time. However, each entity is being engulfed in these transformational entities and energies that are moving to planet Earth at this time; and each will find its own way of responding to such energies.
"We encourage each of you, as seekers of truth, and servants of the One Creator, to open your hearts as fully as you can, and share that love therein so that it might find its resonance in the love that does exist in each heart that you shall face, whether the entity that you shall face is aware of that love or not. By sharing your love, you cause a resonant vibration to be set up between you and all others that you come in contact with, so that this love vibration is enhanced in all entities that are open to the possibilities of change. For change is that which is your daily experience, though the change, over a period of time, is simply the movement from one level of vibration of love to another. Each of you travels this long and dusty road, bringing with you the love that the Creator has given to all the children of the one creation." May you be blessed,
